Specific Opportunities: We have the following volunteer opportunities available. Journalism: This person will help write captions, articles, and stories about the organization highlight or special events. Determine placement of story based on relative significance, read, copy and proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax. Proficiently conceptualizes, writes, and edits press releases, articles, and other business communications for multiple publications, audiences, and markets. Qualifications: Reading Comprehension. Instructor: This position will perform a variety of leadership, professional and personal development training classes with students. This position will provide career development training to youth ages 14-19 with a class size of 5-20 students. The instructor will be responsible for learning the material and teaching a 2 hour course on specific career development topics. The selected candidate will present to a variety of audiences, using training materials, visual aids and media equipment. This person must have the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely in a variety of settings, adjusting the message to match the audience. Candidate must display the ability to deliver the course material to the student in a way that is effective. He/She is responsible for maintaining accurate records of student's performance and attendance during sessions. Qualifications: Some teaching or public speaking experience, excellent communication skills, prior experience working with youth and professional appearance and demeanor. Adopt-A-House: Volunteers will help with minor yard work and painting of senior citizen's homes.
