Special Requirements: Requirement is 18 years of age or older, we provide application, uniform, CPR training, Tb testing, drug screening, and background check (NONE of which the volunteer has to pay out of pocket). If a volunteer come with a TB test within the last year, we just do a second screening and if already have CPR that will cut your application time down. Time to become a volunteer can take two weeks.
Specific Opportunities: Volunteering with terminally ill adult patients, in both nursing facilities and private homes. companionship and socialization only. Students need to be prepared to take a Two step TB test, CPR training, a background check and drug screening, all at our company's expense.
Potential Projects This Year: Having a patient attend an activity such as playing bingo, social events, painting fingernails, getting photos organized. Some volunteers have planned activities such as a facility party, some small games, exercise class. There are endless possibilities that can be started or just joined. We are looking to give our patients some fun and involvement.

Description: We serve the entire DFW area and are seeking dependable, friendly visitors to provide companionship and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We will train you to be a committed listener (no hands-on care) for the patient/family. Visit in your community those residents in their own homes or facilities we serve. Learn hospice care from the administration standpoint to the patient support care we provide. This is profound, personal, life-learning experience, that by taking on you and the people you serve will never be the same! Background check, negative TB test, two references required and drug screening of all volunteers required. The Administrative volunteers only should be ages 16 and up. Patient support volunteers must be CPR certified (we can provide) and 18 years of age. Email contact person to request a packet and complete TB testing prior to scheduling your orientation. It can take 1-2 weeks to become an active volunteer before starting your hours.
