Crisis Intervention

Crisis intervention is offered to students who are in serious and immediate emotional distress. Always consult with a mental health professional if you are concerned about yourself or someone else. Some examples of a crisis include:

  • Threatening to hurt self or others
  • Being threatened or physically hurt by someone else
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there
  • Recent sexual or physical assault
  • Currently living without food, clothing or shelter
  • Experiencing uncontrollable anxiety/panic attacks and unable to calm down

How Do I Get Help?

On Campus - During Regular Business Hours

If your emergency occurs during operational hours, immediate, walk-in assistance is available at the Counseling Center in Bldg. L, Room L108. Help is also available at the following offices.

  • Health Center, Bldg. A, Room A104, 972-860-8177
  • College Police, Bldg. F, Room F120, 972-860-4290 or 9-1-1 from a campus phone. The Police are available 24 hours a day.

Off Campus - Non Business Hours

In case of a mental health emergency occurring during non-operating business hours, please call 9-1-1 or go directly to a hospital emergency room. You may also wish to contact one or more of the following:
