Donna Gormly Faculty Awardee
Donna Gormly was one of the original faculty members hired at Eastfield College in 1970. She taught there for 27 years-courses in English, world literature, creative writing and also started a women's studies course. She designed a program for non-traditional female students enrolling in college to gain confidence and self-worth in an academic environment. She is the co-editor, along with Jane Roberts Wood and Sally Schrup, of Out of Dallas, a collection of short stories written by employees of the District. She is one of the founding mothers of the Pink Lady Sorority.
After her retirement, she agreed served as the president of the DCCCD Retiree's Association. She was asked in 2011 to write the history of the association. Since her retirement, she has written a novel,
The Tysen Hotel. She is presently working on a new novel,
A Congenital Lack of Respect.
