Rita Nall Professional Support Staff Awardee
Rita retired from Eastfield College in 1981 after working in the Learning Resources Center, Continuing Education, Public Information and Computer Services. She developed and implemented quality control, time management and goal setting procedures for various administrative activities in her various positions.
In the LRC she planned, organized and implemented time-saving procedures for library operations. Rita demonstrated cooperation and good communication skills as a team player in all assignments. She participated in and encouraged coworkers to participate in self-improvement classes at Eastfield.
In retirement Nancy is very active in the Irving community, serving on boards of several arts and women’s organizations or co-chairing various fund-raisers in their honor.
She volunteered for two years at St. Joseph Center (a residential facility for youth who are placed there by court order) to promote the value of education. And she assisted four of her five children to attend a DCCCD college; all have attained advanced degrees.
Rita has continued to be very active in retirement. She helped organized the DCCCD Retirees Association, serving as the first secretary for six years. She is still active in the association. She served for several years on the Eastfield Senior Fest Committee. For nine years she organized and directed a 16 member crew baking cookies monthly for the Ronald McDonald House. She helped children in reading activities at a neighborhood school for seven years.
Currently, Rita chairs the Resident Food Services Committee at Chambral Retirement Center, where she lives. She also plans, organizes and coordinates Catholic church services for Chambral residents.
