HART courses have been scheduled so that students beginning in the FALL semester can complete all of the courses offered at CVC in sequence.
Students who begin the HART program in the SPRING semester should be advised that the following FALL semester should be devoted to CORE courses required for the TECH III CERTIFICATE or the AAS DEGREE. Students may enroll in HART 2438 & 2445 without prerequisites, but students generally will obtain more benefit from these courses if they have completed the first six HART courses sequentially.
Air Conditioning Troubleshooting is the "capstone" course for this program. Advanced standing (completion of the first six courses), or consent of the instructor is required for admittance to this course.
Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology, 5th Edition, ISBN: 1-4018-3765-4This text should be purchased by the student by the second day of HART 1407 Refrigeration Principles.
Electricity for Refrigeration, Heating, and Air Conditioning ,7th edition ISBN 1-4180-4287-0This text should be purchased by the student by the second day of HART 1401 Basic Electricity for HVAC.
Tools must be provided by the student and should be obtained before the second day of class. The
tool list is provided as a PDF link here.
All HART courses are five week duration, attended four days a week (M - R) courses. HART courses should be taken in the following order:
HART 1407 Refrigeration Principles (4) This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: None. An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, temperature/pressure relationship, safety, refrigeration containment, and refrigeration components. This course is cross-listed as HART 1307 and HART 1507. The student may register for either HART 1307, HART 1407 or HART 1507, but may receive credit for only one of the three.
