Health Information Technology (AAS)

The Health Information Technology Associate Degree program helps you earn credentials employers recognize and prepare you for the health information field. The program is also part of a stackable degree path that allows you to earn an associate degree one step at a time.

  • From Certificate to Associate. Earn a certificate in Medical Billing & Coding and you'll be prepared take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam or the Certified Professional Coders (CPC) exam—the nationally accepted standard of achievement in the field. If you want to continue your education, Cedar Valley will apply all courses to our Health Information Technology associate degree program.

In addition to making sure that medical records are complete and accurate, health information technicians must ensure that all records are maintained in accordance with the law. Technical knowledge of health and systems must be combined with data entry and retrieval, admission and discharge functions and the ability to process and prepare necessary insurance and audit forms.
