General Immunizations

All prospective students should have adequate immunizations. See the Texas Department of Health's Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule. Adults who need shots should contact the local health department (Dallas Health Dept. number is 214-819-2000). If you do not have insurance or money to pay for necessary shots, then ask the health department if you qualify for the "Texas Adult Safety Net Program" which can provide the shots at $10 each for qualifying adults.

The Dallas County Health Department does provide shots for Children through 18 years of age on the Cedar Valley campus the FIRST Thursday of each month in Building M Room 233 from Noon to 3:30 PM. This immunization clinic is open to the public. The shots cost $10 on the first visit, and $5 for each visit thereafter no matter how many shots the child needs. A parent or legal guardian must accompany each child. Please bring previous shot records with you.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has developed policy changes to the Texas Vaccines for Children program. Children covered under private insurance are no longer eligible to receive TVFC vaccines in Dallas County Health and Human Services Immunization Clinics. Please visit the Dallas County Health and Human Services web site or click on their link located on the CVC Health Services web page.
