DCCCD Topical Outline for Humanities 1315

The following topics constitute a common core around which all Humanities courses will be taught. The course will examine two or more disciplines selected from the visual arts, architecture, music, dance, and theater.

The study of various works of art
A definition of the term "humanities" Creativity Values reflected in the arts
The value of the humanities in education A working vocabulary for discussing the arts
Elevating sensory awareness The interrelatedness of the arts
Cultural resources in the Dallas area Appreciation of the arts

Analyzing and critiquing works of art and performance
