LEED Construction

CVC's Building M, Science, Veterinary Technology, and Allied Health has been LEED Gold certified since 2012.
Project Highligthts:

Sustainable Sites

  • 78% of the project site was dedicated to open space
  • Bicycled racks located at each entry
  • 34 native trees were added decreasing the amount of heat island on the site
  • 44 trees were protected and relocated on the site
  • Areas created for outdoor classrooms
  • 100% of the roof is certified as a cool roof by the EPA
  • Reduced light pollution from site lighting

Water Efficiency

  • 56.2% water saving with site irrigation
  • 50.4% water savings with high efficiency indoor plumbing fixtures

Energy and Atmosphere

  • Energy savings of 17.5% below code
  • Low impact refrigerants in HVAC&R equipment

Material and Resources

  • 75% of construction waste was diverted from the landfill
  • 31% of construction materials have recycled content
  • 30% of construction materials are from sources within 500 miles
  • Cradle to Cradle (C2C) products including the roof, carpet tile and furniture
  • FSC certified wood

Indoor Environmental Quality

  • Indoor air testing during construction & prior to move in
  • Low VOC adhesives and sealants
  • Low VOC paints and coatings
  • Low VOC carpets
  • Low VOC composite wood
  • Low VOC furniture
