Services we provide
Upward Bound provides instruction in mathematics, laboratory science, composition, literature and foreign language. In addition, we offer a variety of personal enrichment classes, such as computer literacy and student survival. Other services we offer include:
- Career development
- Senior bridge component
- Cultural events
- Tutoring services
- Enrichment workshops
- Academic and personal advising
- Mentoring activities
- College visits
- Information on colleges
- Assistance in completing college and technical school applications
- Assistance in completing financial aid applications
- High school exit and college entrance test preparation
Upward Bound Activities
We require that all students in the Upward Bound program participate in the academic year and summer components.
Academic year component - During the academic year, Upward Bound students participate in a variety of academic classes, test preparation, workshops and cultural/educational field trips on pre-scheduled Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. In addition, at their home high school, students complete one to two hours of tutoring after school each week.
Summer component - During the summer, Upward Bound students participate in a six-week summer school component that includes academic classes, test preparation, college visits, cultural/educational field trips and college preparatory exercises.
