TRIO Laptop Computer Loan Program
Description
The Cedar Valley College TRIO Student Support Services Program is pleased to provide laptop computers for loan to TRIO students for short-term use. The laptops were purchased with TRIO funds from the Department of Education. A TRIO student may check out a laptop computer from the Media Distribution area upon the recommendation of the student's instructor and the approval of a TRIO staff member. The recommendation must include a project description or specific assignment. Requests may be sent by phone (972-860-851), e-mail CVMedia or Dava Stephens, or in person at Media Distribution (C104A).
The purpose of this program is to provide laptop computers for loan to registered CVC TRIO students for College related use. All policies that govern other CVC laptop computer loan programs and all policies that normally govern the use of Cedar Valley College property apply to this program.
Any current TRIO student at Cedar Valley College is eligible to borrow a computer under this program upon the recommendation of their instructor and approval from a TRIO staff member. Although Cedar Valley College extends certain library privileges to other individuals, they are not eligible to borrow laptop computers. The borrower must be registered in the library's circulation system and agree to comply with the DCCCD Computer Use Policy.
Computers may be checked out from the circulation desk in the Cedar Valley College Library. Request must be made between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Computers are due by 2:00 p.m. on the due date so that they can be properly prepared for the next borrower. Every attempt will be made to assure that all available units are ready for checkout by 4:00 p.m. Borrowers will be expected to sign a checklist indicating receipt of each part of the computer system and this checklist will be used to verify proper return of the equipment. The borrower must present his or her ID card.
Computers are available for a one-week loan period. The term of the loan may be extended to a maximum of three weeks.
Fines for overdue computers will be charged to the borrower's account at the rate of twenty five ($25.00) dollars per day.
The borrower assumes full responsibility for any loss or damage to the computer. The cost of repair or replacement of damaged, lost or stolen computers will be charged to the borrower.
As previously stated, the loan program is for the benefit of Cedar Valley College TRIO students and laptop use should be consistent with this purpose. To help insure maximum availability of computers to all students, the following restrictions apply:
- All use of the computer must be for a specified Cedar Valley College related activity.
- The computer may not be loaned to another party, but must be for the use of the person to whom it is checked out.
