Cedar Valley College Police Department


Cedar Valley College Police Services

The Cedar Valley College Police Department is charged with the personal safety of students, employees, and visitors. The Police Department is staffed by eighteen licensed and certified Texas peace officers and one secretary. The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patrol of the campus is performed by foot, and automobile.

The Cedar Valley College police officers have full arrest and enforcement authority and possess all the powers and privileges and immunities accorded police officers in and by the state of Texas. Sworn personnel are empowered by applicable provisions of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, and Texas Education Code, and the rules and regulations promulgated by the Board of Trustees of the Dallas County Community College District.

The city of Lancaster Police Department and the Cedar Valley College Police Department maintain a concurrent jurisdiction agreement to provide the faculty, staff, students, and visitors with the best possible protection for those on campus. The safety of everyone on campus is our number one concern. If you should observe something that needs to be brought to our attention, we can be reached in the following manner:
When dialing from an on campus phone, dial ext. 911. When dialing from an outside phone (including the Pay phones on campus), dial (972) 860-4290. Use of call boxes located in S-1, S-2, and W-1(gym) parking lots.


Crime Reporting Emergency Procedures

The Cedar Valley College Police Department is responsible for reporting, investigating, and disseminating information on all incidents, injuries, and emergency situations to the appropriate college administrator or outside agency. All offenses occurring on campus should be reported and, upon notification, an officer will respond to investigate. All reported incidents will be handled in a timely and appropriate manner.

Every effort is made to keep the college community informed on a timely basis of campus crimes and crime-related incidents. Monthly statistics are posted in the Police Department Office, Building E, Room 115. Information on how to access crime statistic information can be found in the CVC schedules.

The college police also provide additional services to the college community, including but not limited to the following:
  1. Lost and Found Department
  2. Personal assistance
  1. Auto battery jumps
  2. Escorts
  1. Emergency Messages Delivered to Students
    (Medical emergencies only)
  2. Crime prevention and awareness programs
