Distance Learning Instructional Methods

Cedar Valley College offers a variety of Distance Learning instructional methods including:

Online - As with a traditional college class, instructors give online students specific due dates for assignments and exams. Typically, students and instructors will interact with each other via e-mail, telephone calls and discussion boards.

Telecourse - Our telecourses are taught through video broadcasts using cable TV, PBS broadcasts or leased videotapes. Students enrolled in these classes are required to come to campus to take tests and attend orientation.

Telecourse Plus - Telecourse Plus are online courses that use videos in addition to the Web. Students enrolled in these classes may be required to come to campus to take tests or attend orientation, check with your instructor.

Hybrid/Blended - This type of class has a website attached. Students meet half of the time in a traditional classroom setting, and the other half of the course work is completed online.

Educational opportunities are offered by the Dallas County Community College District without regard to race, color, age, national origin, religion, sex, disability, or sexual orientation.
