The commercial music & recording technology department of Cedar Valley College welcomes your interest in our unique program. Back in 1977, when the campus opened its doors, we conceived the first commercial music and audio engineering program in the state of Texas. Our plan was to offer the information and counseling necessary to allow a student to enter any of our four commercial music degree program areas, to focus on developing musicianship as well as technical skills, and to prepare the student to enter the music business job market in just two short years.

Looking back thirty years, we believe that we have succeeded in our plan. Our graduates are employed as studio engineers, live sound engineers, radio and television station employees, professional performing artists, composers & arrangers, and personnel involved in music sales and marketing at the retail level and above. Our curriculum has been studied and copied by community colleges around the state. We think ours is still the finest program of its kind in Texas, as do the 160+ students who enroll in our program each semester.

We invite you to tour our facilities, including the three fully-equipped audio recording studios and our MIDI sequencing lab. Our four full-time music faculty and fifteen adjunct faculty will answer any questions you may have about our curriculum or the entertainment industry in general.
