Safety Policy

Assignment of Responsibilities

The President of the college is the primary person responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the campus safety program. In the absence of the President, the Chief of Police assumes responsibility for enforcing the safety program. The President, or Chief, is responsible for all documentation and records developed as a result of safety training, meetings, accident investigations, and hazard reports required by this plan.

Safety Policy Statement

Cedar Valley College, through its safety program, is committed to working continually toward improving the campus safety policy and its safety procedures.

It is the expressed purpose of this campus to provide a safe working environment in all areas, for all employees and students. Accidents and injuries are prevented by controlling the work environment and the actions of employees. Because of this commitment, safety will take precedence over expediency or shortcuts. Every attempt will be made to reduce the possibility of accident occurrence. The protection of students, employees, the public and college property is paramount. This administration believes that no phase of the operation of the college is more important than the health and safety of students and staff.

Staff and student safety are the first consideration in the operation of this campus. Safe practices on the part of students and staff must be part of all college activities. Employees must understand their personal responsibility for the prevention of injuries on and off the campus. Accident prevention and efficient operation go hand-in-hand.

The administration of this college is guided and motivated by this policy, and with the cooperation of all staff members and students, will actively pursue a safer working environment throughout the campus.
