Glenna Montgomery Reames Scholarship
for Students with Disabilities

The Glenna Montgomery Reames Scholarship for students with Disabilities was established in 2000 to honor Glenna Reames, long-term employee of Cedar Valley College's Disability Services Office. In overcoming many obstacles associated with her own disability, Glenna has continuously demonstrated the determination and courage found in many individuals with disabilities. The scholarship will be awarded to Cedar Valley students with either a physical or learning disability.

Amount of Award:
$250 per academic year. This amount will be reviewed annually and may be changed at the discretion of the committee.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must have a documented physical or learning disability and be registered with the Disability Services Office of Cedar Valley; Must have completed 12 semester hours with a 3.0 GPA.

Application Process:
Applicants are asked to submit the following to the Disability Services Offices of Cedar Valley College:

  1. DCCCD Foundation Scholarship Application.
  2. One letter of recommendation from faculty, counselor, or staff member of Cedar Valley College.
  3. One-page typed essay describing why you want to be a Glenna Montgomery Reames scholar with information about your goals and significant barriers you have had to overcome.

Selection Process:
Applications will be considered by a committee composed of key personnel in the Disability Services Office, faculty, Mrs. Reames and/or a member of the Reames family. If no qualified candidates can be identified from the scholarship applications, the committee has the discretion not to award a scholarship.

Recipient Requirements:
Recipients must enroll for at least 9 credit hours in the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.

Application Deadline:
Completed applications will be accepted in the Disability Services Office (L108) until 5:00 pm September 30th for the Fall semester and January 30th for the Spring semester, or the following Monday if the deadline falls on the weekend.
