Dr. Mike Bogle, Professor

Dr. Mike BogleA versatile and dynamic pianist, vocalist, bandleader, trombonist, arranger and educator, Mike Bogle was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1992 for his arrangement of Chick Corea's composition Got A Match? recorded by the University of North Texas (UNT) One O'Clock Lab Band.

Performance/arranging credits include Irene Cara (musical director and arranger), Doc Severinsen, Bobby Caldwell, The R Factor, The Midwest Express, Jaco Pastorius, Burt Bacharach, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, and Latin American artists Willie Chirino, Lissette, Gustavo Rojas, and El Grupo Chequere (Tania Records). Mike has released two CD's under his own name, Other Life and Eternal Family--reaching #28 on the Jazz Week Jazz Chart based on airplay.

Recently returning to the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area, Mike performed regularly at such Minnesota venues as the Dakota Jazz Club, Artists Quarter, Fineline, Mears Park, and Heimie's Haberdashery.

Having begun his formal studies as a Studio Music & Jazz major at the University of Miami, Dr. Bogle now holds a DMA degree in Trombone Performance from UNT with related areas in Composition and Piano Performance, as well as MM and BM degrees (also from UNT) in Jazz Studies.

Dr. Bogle has held teaching and/or administrative posts at McNally Smith College of Music (Saint Paul), University of Texas at Arlington, Brookhaven College, and UNT. As a faculty member at Cedar Valley College, Dr. Bogle is teaching jazz and commercial music arranging, composition, MIDI/technology, music theory, and the keyboard ensemble, as well as continuing to explore his professional interests in performance, songwriting, and music publishing.
