Roger DismoreCommercial Music Program Coordinator Roger Dismore received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from the University of North Texas (UNT). While attending UNT, he played lead alto sax in the renowned 1:00 Lab Band for two years, performing on the Grammy-nominated albums "Lab '75" and "Lab '76."

His current teaching load includes Survey of the Music Business, Lab Band and co-op internship supervision; in addition, he books the department's recital series, schedules and supervises staffing of all music classes, hires and supervises adjunct faculty, helps current students modify degree plans and certifies music program graduates. Mr. Dismore was honored with Cedar Valley's Excellence in Teaching Award in 1983, a selection from among all full-time faculty, and recently was selected as the 2008-2009 Minnie Stevens Piper Professor for Cedar Valley College.

Professional performance highlights include road tours and casual gigs with pop singers The Pointer Sisters, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Wayne Brady, James Taylor, Ray Charles, Trisha Yearwood, Natalie Cole, Lou Rawls, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Linda Ronstadt, Three Dog Night, Carol Burnett, Michael Bolton, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Harry Connick Jr., Aretha Franklin, Bernadette Peters, Lola Falana, Crystal Gayle, Tony Bennett, Mel Tormé, Glen Campbell, Marilyn McCoo, Ben Vereen, Tommy Tune, Dionne Warwick, Bob Hope, Leslie Uggams, Little Anthony, The Spinners, Dianne Carroll, Joel Grey, Wayne Newton, The Fifth Dimension, Manhattan Transfer, Tom Jones, Johnny Mathis, Liza Minnelli, Engelbert Humperdinck, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Peter Nero, Melissa Manchester, Betty Buckley, Sandi Patty and Trini Lopez.

He has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Pops concerts; the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra; the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet Orchestra; in the pit orchestra for Casa Mañana Theatre and Dallas Summer Musicals; in a big band performance with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra; with Pete Peterson and the Collection Jazz Orchestra; with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Les Elgart Orchestra, Glenn Miller Orchestra with Tex Beneke and the Ice Capades Orchestra; with the Miss Texas Pageant Orchestra; and in the Southern Palace Orchestra at Six Flags Over Texas. A CD released in spring 2008 featured him playing saxophone with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra performing the music of George Gershwin.
