STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
The Student Code of Conduct is an important guideline for the educational environment covering students' rights, responsibilities and recourse in the matter of student behavior on campus and in the classroom. The Student Code of Conduct can be found in the Cedar Valley College Catalog and on the District web site at www1.dcccd.edu/catalog/ss/conduct.cfm. Questions and comments regarding utilization of the Code may be brought to the attention of the Dean of your Division or to the Vice President of Student Services.
A student grievance is a college related problem or condition which a student believes to be unfair, inequitable, discriminatory, or a hindrance to the educational process. A grievance also includes discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, ate or sexual orientation.
Grades: a student must discuss a grade problem first with the instructor. If the student is not satisfied, he or she should discuss the grade problem with the division dean.
Sexual harassment should be reported immediately to the Human Resources Office.
Informal complaint: a student may informally report a grievance other than the above to the appropriate college authority, usually an instructional dean. If the complaint is not resolved, the student may present a written grievance to the Vice President. If the complaint is still not resolved, the student should follow the formal procedure outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
