How to Renew Online

Most items checked out from Cedar Valley College Library may be renewed online.  Books are loaned for a three-week period and may be renewed for an additional three weeks. Semester-Loan Telecourse videos and DVDs may not be renewed.  Items that are overdue or on hold for another patron may not be renewed.

  1. From the Cedar Valley College library website, select Library Catalog
  2. Click on Classic Catalog (lower, right-hand corner)
  3. Click on My Account
  4. Enter your name and student ID
  5. Click on Submit
  6. If you would like all items to be renewed, click on Renew All
  7. If you would like to renew specific items, put a check in the box next to the item(s) and click on Renew Marked
  8. Click on Yes when asked if you would like to proceed with the renewal

· You cannot renew items that are overdue or on hold!


How to Place a Hold on a Book

To place a HOLD on a book is to request a book that is checked out and have it reserved for the requestor when it is returned.

To place a hold on a book:

  1. From the Cedar Valley College library website, select Library Catalog
  2. Enter search terms and locate item
  3. In orange lettering, you will see the status of the book
    • If status is LIB USE ONLY or AVAILABLE, the item can NOT be put on hold
    • If status is DUE  ##-##-##, the item CAN be put on hold
  4. Click on Request It
  5. Enter your name and student ID
  6. Click on Submit
  7. Select Cedar Valley Circulation Desk from Pickup Location from drop-down menu
  8. Click on Submit

How to Request an ICL (Intercollege Loan)

Intercollege Loan allows students, staff, and faculty to borrow books from other DCCCD libraries.  ICLs may be sent to any other campus or picked up at the Circulation Desk.  Only Main collection books may be requested; no Reference books may be loaned.

To request an ICL from another campus:

  1. From the Cedar Valley College library website, select Library Catalog
  2. Enter search terms and locate item
  3. Click on title of book to view full record
    • If the item is located AT CEDAR VALLEY, you will NOT need to request the book
    • If the item is LIB USE ONLY, it can NOT be requested as an ICL
  4. Click on Request It
  5. Enter your name and student ID
  6. Click on Submit
  7. Select Cedar Valley Circulation Desk from Pickup Location from drop-down menu
  8. Click on Submit

Allow three (3) days for receipt of ICL materials if sent


How to Request an ILL (Interlibrary Loan)

Interlibrary Loan allows students, staff, and faculty to borrow books outside the DCCCD libraries. Before requesting any ILL item, please check the DCCCD Library Catalog. Please note that most ILL items may require up to six weeks for delivery.

To request an ILL:

  1. From the Cedar Valley College library website, select Library Catalog
  2. Click on Classic Catalog (lower, right-hand corner)
  3. Click on Interlibrary Loans
  4. Click on Place an Interlibrary Loan Request
  5. Select type of material
  6. Enter your name and student ID
  7. Click on Submit
  8. Enter as much information as possible in the boxes provided
  9. Click on SUBMIT THIS REQUEST

·Allow up to six (6) weeks for receipt of ILL materials.
