Photo of Pat SmithA good friend finally convinced me to go for my G.E.D., which I did. I was then able to secure employment to support myself and my children. At age 38, I was convinced by that same good friend and by my oldest son, to take a class at the community college. One class led to another, to another, and I graduated with a 4.0 GPA from CVC at age 40 with my associates degree. I was overwhelmed and so very blessed to be student commencement speaker. I had never graduated from anything in my life and it was a true honor. That changed my entire life and most of all, my self esteem and self worth. I graduated from U.T. Southwestern Medical School with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, and just a year ago, completed my Master Degree in Human Relations and Business from Amberton. I have worked at CVC 13 years as an Advisor/Tutor Coordinator for the TRIO SSS Program and now am privileged to teach as an adjunct.
