I was born in México. My mother and father never went to school. When I was five years old, I was left to take care of my two brothers and sister after my mother died. Later, feeling left out, I decided to register myself in school. In the middle of first grade, I dropped out of school, took my reading book home and repeated the poems until I taught myself to read. I was forced to drop out of seventh grade to come to the U.S.Photo of Soon after I arrived to the U.S., I got married and I began feeling the need for an education. I decided to find a place to take an English class. I decided to go to Cedar Valley and at this college, the visual aspect was appealing and relaxing. The people at the desk spoke Spanish and made me feel welcome. As I walked the halls, I felt refreshed with the view of the water and trees. I was at home.
