Student Success Our Title III grant will allow us to enhance the successful Cedar Valley Achiever's Project, a program that connects developmental students to an advisor, an HD course and a tracking system that allows us to learn and respond better to the needs of our students.

The process for selecting our Title III Director, faculty counselor, and advisor have begun. We hope to have all individuals hired by the end of October. We have already hired the Web Programmer Analyst in Information Technology, Govi Chou, associated with the grant.
  • The Title III grant is designed to strengthen the institution and impact the following college challenges:
  • Rapidly increasing numbers of first-time students in college and developmental students;
  • High drop-out rates and poor success rates in developmental and core courses;
  • Inadequate services to provide students strategies for success.
Based upon sound research and model programs, this project details a three-part strategy to improve retention and student success:
  1. Intense academic advisement, intrusive case-management, student educational action plans, a webbased intervention system and increased online student services, a resource center and mandatory orientation for first time in college students through Human Development courses.
  2. Instructional improvement, faculty development, alternative delivery models, upgraded technology and classroom configurations.
  3. Academic services improvement, expanded tutoring and study skill workshops.

The college’s emphasis on continuous improvement strategies, measurable outcomes, and commitment to evaluation will ensure the success of project objectives. Performance outcomes include improvements in successful completion of first semester courses, semester-to-semester persistence, and program completion and graduation rates. It also includes increased availability of campus and online services and instructional technology that promotes student success.
