CVC Strategic Plan
2008 - 2009

GOAL I - STUDENT SUCCESS
The success of our students is always the primary focus.

Increase course completion, semester to semester persistence, and enrollment by 5% resulting increases in target groups (Anglos, males, and Hispanics) and overall student diversity reflective of the service area.

Integrate and implement student learning outcomes in all Core curriculum courses and student service areas, develop assessment tools for evaluation, and improve the number of Core curriculum completers by 10%. Develop plan to integrate student learning outcomes into all credit programs within two years.

Increase the number of sustainability theory principles into at least 10 CORE courses and CE.

Goal: II Employee Success
We remain committed to hiring, retaining, and developing successful employees as a key to the positive impact we have on our students and communites we serve.

Provide training for faculty in student engagement assessment activities that increase retention, student success, and inclusiveness.

Create methods to ensure that our hiring results in faculty and staff that reflect the diversity of our service area.

Create fund and implement an incentive approach for outstanding employees.

Add 2 professional development workshops per semester for fall and spring on sustainability theory for all employees.

Implement and evaluate professional development focusing on inclusiveness, customer service, conflict resolution, using data, retention and supervisor training to improve student success.

Goal III: Economic and Workforce Development
We positively and significantly impact economic workforce development initiatives key to the prosperity of Dallas County, North Texas, the state, and the nation.

Research and develop new programs such as Heavy Equipment Training, both credit and continuing education, that meet economic and workforce demand and that support our enrollment growth and new contact hour generation.

Implement new Forensic, Logistics, and pre-Engineering programs for credit and related courses in CE.

Continue to develop Residential Green Building Institute increasing the number of online courses and adding on-campus classes to schedule.

Continue to define and implement an economic and workforce development plan that complements the District's goals.

Goal IV: Community Development
We add value to lives and build communities by continually strengthening and expanding our connections with civic, community, and educational organizations.

Create partnerships that provide students "real life experiences and opportunities" that enrich learning experiences that include internships and COOPS with Graphic Web Development, Visual Arts, Logistics, and the Green Building Institute programs.

Raise funding to support efforts of Foundation's Capital Campaign and assist in building two new structures at CVC (Sustainable Building Institute, and K-12 Educational Learning Center.

Implement Early College High School program with Cedar Hill ISD and Dallas ISD which will lead to an increase of 200 additional students for fall 2008.

Goal V: Business and Fiscal Affairs
We maintain the public's trust by being fiscally responsible and accountable at all times.

Use practices to gain efficiencies that result in financial savings.

Develop and implement strategy for online courses that leads to continued growth in the number of courses and number of sections equal to student demand.

Create a plan to develop sustainable campus practices which result in more efficient use of resources.

Goal VI: Organizational Effectiveness
We meet our goals based on continual evaluation and improvement of programs and services in relation to student and community needs.

Develop and implement College Preparedness Plan consistent with the DCCCD safety plan for 2008-09 academic year.

Create and implement a communication system that allows for campus-wide input and improves the exchange of ideas throughout the organization.

Develop a continuous improvement approach appropriate for CVC. Utilize the CI approach with the telephone system, the hiring process, and department review process using Instruction Model.

Enhance resource and relationship development initiatives: 1) ensure that our Resource Development Plan includes strategies to raise a minimum of $10,000 by September 2009 and $60,000 by January 2010. 2) maintain grant funding for 08-09 of 1.2 million that focuses on student success, male student initiatives, program development and our Green Building Institute.

Increase revenues for CE by generating $400,000 above expenses, $150,000 to come from the Cedar Hill Center.
